Patna Metro Route, Stations & Status 2026: Plot Buyer's Guide
Quick answer
Only 6.2 km of Patna Metro runs today: ISBT to Malahi Pakri, with four halts.
- Khemnichak in between is built but closed. There is no official opening date.
- The underground stations (Gandhi Maidan, Patna University, Patna Junction) are still being built. News reports target 2028.
But "near metro" is no reason to pay more for a plot. See what to check below. Checked 30 October 2026.
Which Patna Metro stations are open today?
| Stage | Stations |
|---|---|
| Open to passengers | Patliputra Bus Terminal (ISBT), Zero Mile, Bhootnath, Malahi Pakri. All four are elevated. |
| Built, but closed | Khemnichak. Trains pass without stopping. The Metro Rail Corporation (PMRCL) calls it the future interchange of the two corridors. |
| Being built (underground) | Rajendra Nagar, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, University, PMCH, Gandhi Maidan, Akashvani and Patna Station. |
| Being built (Danapur side) | Corridor 1, from Danapur to Khemni Chak. PMRCL lists all 14 stations as "in progress", including the Saguna More–Danapur stretch. |
PMRCL's website lists these five as built stations but does not say which carry passengers. That comes from news reports of 2 July 2026.

Patna Metro route: both corridors and every station
| Corridor | Length | Stations, in order |
|---|---|---|
| Corridor 1 Danapur → Khemni Chak | 17.93 km 14 stations | Danapur, Saguna More, RPS More, Patliputra, Rukanpura, Raja Bazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, Patna Station, Mithapur, Ramkrishna Nagar, Jaganpura, Khemni Chak |
| Corridor 2 Patna Station → Patliputra Bus Terminal | 14.57 km 12 stations | Patna Station, Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, University, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Rajendra Nagar, Malahi Pakri, Khemni Chak, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, Patliputra Bus Terminal |
Patna Station and Khemni Chak are the two interchange stations where the corridors meet. Corridor 1 is 7.42 km elevated and 10.51 km underground. Corridor 2 is 6.49 km elevated and 8.08 km underground.
The 2019 approval gave 16.94 km and 14.45 km. PMRCL's current figures differ, so always go by its route page.

Which localities does each Patna Metro station serve?
This is how PMRCL describes some of its stations:
| Station | PMRCL says it serves |
|---|---|
| Danapur | Danapur and nearby residential and defence areas |
| Saguna More | A major commercial and residential junction |
| RPS More | Residential localities in western Patna |
| Rukanpura | A rapidly developing residential zone |
| Raja Bazar | Major commercial and residential areas |
| Patna Zoo | Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park and nearby public areas |
| Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan | Government offices and administrative zones; government and commercial establishments in central Patna |

| Rajendra Nagar, Bhootnath | A key residential and commercial locality; densely populated residential areas |
Match your plot to the nearest name here. Then check that station's stage in the first table.

When will the rest of Patna Metro open?
PMRCL has not published dates on its website. These are the targets news reports gave in September and October 2026:
| Section | Reported target |
|---|---|
| Khemnichak station opens | December (24 Sep report). "Next month" (28 Oct report) |
| Khemnichak → Mithapur, 3.1 km elevated | June 2027 |
| Moin-ul-Haq Stadium → Patna Junction, underground | 2028 |
| Patna Junction underground interchange | 2028 |
| Patna Junction → Mithapur, underground (Corridor 1) | "Still awaiting final approval" (24 Sep report) |
| Rest of Corridor 1, towards Danapur | 2030 (one report) |
Treat these as targets, not promises. The 2019 approval said five years. The first stretch opened in October 2025, and the full network is still years away.

Metro and your plot: what to check before you pay
- Is the plot near a planned station? The Patna Junction interchange needs land. News reports say the district land acquisition office has already issued notices. Before buying near a planned station, ask PMRCL and that office in writing.
- The Master Plan already keeps a transit route. The plan keeps a dedicated fast-transit route, such as BRTS or metro. It runs on the 80 m central spine and the 60 m outer ring. These roads are only proposals. See where the 80 m and 60 m roads will run.
- The Patliputra township draft has its own MRTS. It is separate from the city metro. The draft plan 2047 proposes stations every 400–800 m. Around them is a 500 m zone with higher floor area (FAR). It is still a draft. Registry curbs may apply: see the township village rules.
- No government paper gives a price effect. We found no official document saying the metro raises plot rates. So we quote no number, and you should not accept one without proof.

How to check the latest Patna Metro status yourself
- Open the PMRCL website, patnametro.bihar.gov.in. Read the Route Map and Project Status pages.
- Look at the "last updated" date at the foot of each page. Several pages are months old.
- Call the PMRCL 24×7 helpline, 155370. The office toll-free number is 1800 425 0355 (9:30 am to 5 pm).
- For the township villages, read the PMAA public notices (pmaa.bihar.gov.in).
Trust the PMRCL page and a call over a broker's WhatsApp forward.
How Patna Metro got here (2019 to today)
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| 13 Feb 2019 | Union Cabinet approved two corridors at ₹13,365.77 crore, to be completed in five years. |
| 6 Oct 2025 | Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the first elevated stretch: Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile and Bhootnath. |
| 2 July 2026 | Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary extended service to Malahi Pakri, making 6.2 km. Khemnichak was left without a stop. |
What should you do?
- Buy the plot, not the metro. It must make sense even if the station opens years late.
- Ask for the station name and its status. If a broker says "metro station here", ask which PMRCL station it is. Is it open, closed or being built?
- Check the plot against the maps. Look at the Master Plan map and the metro route before you pay the token.
- Papers first. Jamabandi, khatiyan and mutation must be clean. See the Patna plot buying guide.
Patna Metro: frequently asked questions
- Which metro station is nearest to Boring Road, Kankarbagh or Bailey Road?
None of the three is a station name in PMRCL's lists. Stations carry landmark names such as Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan and Rajendra Nagar. PMRCL says to call its 24×7 helpline, 155370, for the nearest station to a landmark.
- What are the Patna Metro fare and timings?
PMRCL's fare and timing pages say "available soon". News reports gave ₹30 for the full ISBT to Malahi Pakri ride (2 July 2026). Trains ran about every 35 minutes. These can change, so ask at the station or call 155370.
- When will the metro reach Danapur and Saguna More?
PMRCL lists the Saguna More–Danapur stretch as in progress but gives no date. One news report (15 Sep 2026) says the rest of Corridor 1 should run by 2030.
- Who is building Patna Metro, and what will it cost?
PMRCL, at Indra Bhavan, West Boring Canal Road, Patna 800001. The Union Cabinet approved ₹13,365.77 crore in February 2019. We found no later cost revision on the PMRCL pages we read.
- Can I build taller near a metro station in Patna?
We found no metro-linked rule in the Bihar building by-laws we checked. The only such rule is the 500 m zone with higher FAR in the draft township plan 2047. Ask the Patna Municipal Corporation or PMAA before you plan extra floors.
